Portugal completed today the ratification procedure regarding the NATO Accession Protocols for Finland and Sweden, through the deposit of the instruments of ratification of the Accession Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty, in Washington, by the Portuguese Ambassador, Francisco Duarte Lopes.
This process, of great historical significance, underlines Portugal's commitment to the security of the Euro-Atlantic area.
The accession of these two countries to NATO will contribute to the strengthening of the Alliance as well as the cooperation and solidarity in the fields of security and defense in the Euro-Atlantic area, an essential pillar of national foreign and defense policies.
